It’s official! We are to have a new ministry team. In 2010 the plans for South Widnes Team will have come to fruition. St Paul’s Widnes; St Mary’s West Bank and St Mary’s Hale and Ignite (the Deanery Youth Church) will be working as a team.
New beginnings
New managers: same boss!
Our team rector will be Janice Collier, the current vicar of St Mary’s Hale; the team vicar will be Canon Dr Jeremy Duff and they will be working together for all three churches. Our Readers will continue to work with us, alongside the new clergy. Canon Dr Jeremy Duff, the new team vicar, is currently Director of Lifelong Learning for the Liverpool diocese, and is a canon at Liverpool’s Anglican Cathedral. He is also a distinguished academic and a scholar who has taught at Oxford University, Wycliffe Hall, and Liverpool Hope University. He has published books including, ‘The Elements of New Testament Greek' and 'Meeting Jesus.’
Induction Service
An induction service was held for Canon Dr Jeremy Duff at St Paul's Church on Monday 8th March at 7.30pm.
Gratitude for God’s grace
We thank God that our prayers have been answered in such a wonderful way and that new ministers are coming to lead us. The future now looks brighter for our church.
Jesus gave us the great commission when he said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you, and lo, I am with you always, to the close of the age.” It is exiting to think through our membership of St Paul’s Church Widnes, we can be part of this, supporting the wider ministry of our church through our prayers, actions and our giving.
